Centre for Research on Biomolecular Interactions presents Prof. Dipankar Sen, Dept. of Chemistry and Dept. of Molecular Biology & Biochemistry, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby
Talk Title: "DNA and RNA as switches, sensors, and catalysts"
Abstract:
DNA and RNA are often no longer thought of as purely informational polymers. In fact, their structural and functional possibilities, in biology and beyond, are vast. Prof. Dipankar Sen will describe his recent work on selecting for and characterizing new DNA and RNA enzymes (ribozymes and DNAzymes) as well as on the design and properties of DNA-based mechatronic nanoswitches for detection of proteins and small molecules.
